Kindergarten (German Vorschule) 5 & 6 Years Old
German Language Classes
Kindergarten is based on the combination of the curricula of American Kindergarten and German Vorschule program and is designed to prepare 5 & 6 year old students for first grade.
Class Curriculum
- Classes are held WEDNESDAYS or THURSDAYS from 4:30 to 7pm
These classes are designed for students attending American Kindergarten during the day.
- The class is taught in German only.
- Linguistic and motor skills are added to the program.
- Exercises to increase concentration and focus on German vocabulary are part of the lessons.
- German culture is part of the program.
- Every other week visits to the school owned German library are part of the lesson plan.
- Regular hands-on science experiments are part of the curriculum as well.
Age-appropriate German language skills are necessary to attend classes.


Class Description
Kindergarten class prepares the students for 1st grade. Introducing of the alphabet with German vocabulary is part of the class routine in addition to have fun learning and talking. Students will make their own lanterns for the annual Lantern walk in November, and will perform the St. Martin play in front of the whole school. Nikolaus visits the class in December. In February they celebrate Mardi Gras and dance through the school dressed up during a polonaise. They are duly celebrated by the parents and the school administration in the Media Center.
