German Language Classes
The curriculum for German lessons of the Native speakers Grades 5-11 were drawn up based on the educational plans for Gymnasium of Baden-Württemberg.
*Age-appropriate German language skills are necessary to attend classes.
Class Curriculum
- Classes are held on WEDNESDAY from 4:30 to 7pm
Classes are based on current schoolbooks, workbooks and a variety of additional materials that comply with the guidelines.
- Different kinds of oral and written language use, Grammar, spelling, and readings of several genres.
- Dictations and essays are just as much part of the curriculum as class readings are, which are read and discussed in class.


DSB has an extensive school library with German-language books, games, audio books, CDs and DVDs for all age groups, which is regularly expanded.
Class Description
- Students follow the curriculum. In addition they prepare presentations and are part of the school internal presentation and “Youth debate” contests.
- 7th grade students take the IVA2 (Internationale Vergleichsarbeit) in class.
- In addition to the regular curriculum of 9th grade, students get prepared for the German proficiency test DSD I (Deutsche Sprachdiplom) to be able to attend “Studienkolleg” in Germany.
- In addition to the regular curriculum of 10th grade, students are prepared specifically for the German proficiency Test DSD II (Deutsche Sprachdiplom DSD II), which will be administered in the first semester of 11th grade. This diploma is required for studying at a German university in combination with an American high school diploma. This is the final test in your student's education at DSB.
